Income/Franchise Tax Senior Associate - Remote Eligible

Location: All Locations in the United States Work Arrangement: Remote, In-office or Hybrid As a member of the National Tax Office State & Local Team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of state and local income/franchise tax projects, including tax planning, restructuring, transaction advisory, audit defense and appeals, state tax return review, taxability research, writing and correspondence.

A typical day as an Income/Franchise Tax Senior Associate might include the following:

• Research, review, and prepare deliverables concerning state and local income/franchise tax matters.
• Assist clients with various state income tax compliance matters including return review.

Assist clients with state and local tax controversies including preparing clients for discussions with auditors, assisting with the representation of clients at administrative appeals, appeal meetings and preparing written protests.

• Assist with the negotiation and drafting of settlement terms and ruling requests with state and local taxing authorities.
• Assist with the identification and presentation of multistate tax opportunities to internal and external clients.
• Manage voluntary disclosure projects.
• Assist with buy and sell-side transaction advisory projects.
• Develop multistate expertise by keeping current with latest legislation and case law related to state income/franchise tax.
• Assist with the preparation of thought leadership insights and articles for both internal and external distribution
• Participate in practice development activities focused on forming strong relationships with clients, prospective clients and governmental personnel.

Secondary assistance with non-income franchise service areas such as sales and use tax, credits and incentives, and property tax Who You Are You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (required); a Master’s of Taxation, MBA, LLM in Taxation or JD are preferred. You have 2+ years of experience with state and local income/franchise tax (required). You have a valid CPA license or JD, or are working towards obtaining a CPA license or JD. You have a well-rounded knowledge of state and local tax principles and experience with tax research and state income tax returns. You have strong written and verbal communication skills. You have the ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities with work projects. You have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and clients. You are proficient with Microsoft Office Excel and Word. Eide Bailly complies with all local/state regulations regarding displaying ranges. Final compensation decisions are dependent upon factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and internal equity.
