New Zealand

Are you passionate about driving innovation in technology? Want to make a difference on a global stage?

We’re searching for an experienced Product Manager to help us shape the future of workplace learning experiences through our Totara Platform and Design System. We have a world-class Talent Experience Platform with enormous potential for continued market growth and are looking for someone to take charge of our platform development team.

In this role, you will join our product management team to work on enabling our teams to innovate and move fast on some of the most exciting problems faced by the modern workforce. You will be challenged with questions like:

  • How can we ensure our product platform provides a solid foundation for our learning and talent development solutions?
  • How can our component library and design system enable our teams and Totara partners to innovate quickly?
  • How can we execute on long-term (and resourced!) plans to modernise our technology stack and development framework?
  • How must we improve or create R&D practices to support our cross-functional teams to thrive in building out our product experiences?

This role offers you the chance to learn, grow, and work alongside our passionate Research & Development team. Together, we tackle impactful challenges and have fun solving them. In this role you will:

  • Lead on our product technology strategy for Totara’s development platform and design system, ensuring alignment with other product areas and our overarching business goals, supported by our product leadership team.
  • Work with our engineering and design leadership teams to translate the strategy into an outcome-driven roadmap, managing the work programme and supporting product trios to confidently deliver on key outcomes.
  • Gain a deep understanding of what is required to enable an R&D department to innovatively design and develop a product used by over 20 million people.
  • Become a champion for our ways of working, working closely with our engineering and design leadership to interview internal teams and Totara partners on what they need to succeed.

About You

  • You’re passionate about solving the challenges organisations face in supporting their people to learn and develop.
  • You have at least three years working on technology-powered products as a product manager or feel you have the transferable skills required.
  • You have a strong understanding of product management practices, are flexible in picking the right method for the job, and are comfortable running on your own (with support there when you need it).
  • You have a strong understanding of how a product manager functions in a technical product development hub and can comfortably deliver development outcomes to multiple teams.
  • You have a proven ability to foster an environment that upskills teams around you, through championing the use of improved technology and design systems, and bringing people along with the idea that removing friction can create value.
