Introduction

The institute is in search of a variety of Occupational and Technical Trainers who will be able to join our team on either a Part-Time- or Full-Time basis in preparation for our current and upcoming intakes. We are particularly recruiting for the following: 

School of Artisans and Technical Trades:   

  • Occupational Certificate: Electrician 

  • Occupational Certificate: Welder 

  • Occupational Certificate: Fitter and Turner 

  • Occupational Certificate: Plumber 

 

School of Business, Entrepreneurship and Finance:  

  • Occupational Certificate: Bookkeeper 

  • Occupational Certificate: Tax Professional 

  • Occupational Certificate: Real Estate Agent 

 

School of Information Technology and Data Science:   

  • Occupational Certificate: Computer Technician NQF5 

  • Occupational Certificate: Cybersecurity Analyst NQF5 

  • Occupational Certificate: Software Developer NQF5 

  • Occupational Certificate: Robotic Processing Automation Developer NQF5 

  • Occupational Certificate: Software Engineer NQF6 

 

The prime role of the Trainer (also referred to as the Lecturer internally) will be to teach students the necessary skills and applications for the development of specific programme disciplines of which one is deemed a Subject Matter Expert. This includes conducting training; assessment & invigilation as well as drive the development and expansion of the faculty offerings and its delivery methods.  

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Facilitating student learning through interactive teaching that promotes student engagement and support the student learning experience.  

  • Setting and Conducting of assessments, marking, and providing meaningful feedback   

  • Contributing to programme and content development, and improvement of resources  

  • Undertaking relevant academic administration activities  

  • Ensuring a positive student experience, providing student support, and maintaining excellent customer service  

  • Maintaining strong working relationships within the department and with other departments  

  • Prepare Comprehensive briefs and marking schedules are available to students at the start of the project. Briefs include aims, learning outcomes, submission requirements, assessment criteria, references, and additional resources   

  • keep themselves informed and abreast of developments in their field   

  • Inform students about the assessment methods, procedures and regulations as contained in briefs and the assessment policy   

  • The lecturer is perceived as fair, approachable and supportive   

  • Promote student success through initiatives that see improved student retention and throughput rates.  

  • Identify at-risk students and implement strategies to assist these students  

  • Build and maintain communities of learning and communities of practice 

Application Requirements

  • All applicants are required to attach their CV and Trade Certificate. Applications lacking these documents will be rejected. 

  • 2 years’ experience in a position within an educational environment would be a distinct advantage.  

  • At least 5 years’ experience in the relevant field.  

  • Relevant trade certificate for the programme applying for.  

  • Ability to understand, use and learn modern technology.  

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment.  

  • Must be able to work from our Midrand campus and have reliable transport.

Package & Remuneration

Annual salary range: R240 000 - R384 000
