About the job

As a key member of the Legal Operations team, you will be essential to delivering operational excellence and exceptional customer service to Twilio’s Legal Team, and our business partners. We are seeking someone with a wide range of skills that is financially minded to help manage our eBilling platform, act as an interface to the Legal team for onboarding  vendors, new matter creation, and budgets. You will be responsible for all purchase order creation and tracking for the Legal team. You will also be an interface to finance, accounting and law firm vendors. While this role initially requires a billing and vendor management subject matter expert, we prefer a candidate willing to step into new opportunities as the role evolves.  

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Manage the vendor payment process using our e-billing software, Onit.
  • Partner with the Accounting team to manage the monthly accrual process.
  • Own Twilio’s billing guidelines and make recommendations for improvements. 
  • Negotiate law firm engagement letters to adhere to our billing guidelines.
  • Manage outside counsel and vendor relationships.  
  • Partner with IT to enhance systems and tools, including our billing platform.
  • Provide training to new employees and vendors on our systems and processes.
  • Raise purchase requisitions and track purchase orders.
  • Track and renew software licenses, memberships and bar dues. 
  • Create meaningful metrics and dashboards to show insights, opportunities and progress. 
  • Work closely with the legal team to learn how they work and make recommendations for process and systems improvements.  
  • Prepare and publish process documentation as well as provide training to the legal team on new systems and processes.
  • Support with process and systems enhancement projects and implementations.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance,  business administration, economics or 5+ years of equivalent experience. 
  • 2+ years experience related to legal billing (in-house or law firm). 
  • Knowledge of e-billing systems and ERPs, preferably Onit and Oracle.  
  • Advanced user of Google Sheets or Excel; comfortable using v-lookup, if, and pivot table functions. 
  • Superior customer service skills and a sense of ownership; will go the extra mile to drive initiatives to closure and surprise and delight. 
  • Continuous learner; curious to learn how others do their jobs and explore new ways to do things. 

Desired:

  • Experience with productivity software (such as Slack, Google suite, and Airtable) and legal technology systems (such as Agiloft and Onit).
  • Law firm or in-house paralegal experience. 
  • Experience working at a high growth technology company.

Location

This role will be remote but is not eligible to be hired in San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or the surrounding areas.

Travel

*Please note this role is open to candidates outside of Colorado, California, New York, and Washington. The information below is provided for candidates hired in those locations only.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:

  • Based in Colorado: $112,000 - $140,000
  • Based in New York, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $118,000 - $148,000
  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
