We’re seeking a Solutions Engineer (IT System Administrator) to support SmartDeploy, our Windows imaging and deployment platform, which enables system administrators to create, manage, and deploy hardware-independent OS images across diverse environments. This role is designed for experienced system administrators with a strong technical foundation in Windows OS deployment and imaging. While you’ll focus on SmartDeploy and build deep expertise in its imaging and deployment capabilities, you’ll also expand to support an additional PDQ product. You’ll help other sysadmins (our customers) solve difficult technical issues across a wide range of environments. You'll work in English with a US-based team. You will be solving challenging problems with other people like you: system administrators with real-world experience.
Respond to customer support tickets (primarily via email, occasionally via remote sessions) related to Windows imaging, deployment, and device management. You’ll be working directly with other system administrators, not end users. Investigate and troubleshoot deployment failures, connectivity issues, imaging anomalies, and configuration challenges. Reproduce and escalate bugs to engineering with clear documentation. Create and maintain technical documentation, KB articles, and usage guides. Capture and communicate feature requests and product feedback from customers to the Product and Engineering teams. Collaborate with internal teams to test new features, validate fixes, and improve support processes.
3+ years of hands-on experience as a system administrator, IT technician, or in a similar role managing Windows environments with 300+ endpoints.
Demonstrated experience with Windows imaging and deployment tools, such as SmartDeploy, SCCM, WDS+MDT, FOG, or Intune, as well as underlying components such as the Windows ADK, WindowsPE, DISM, and the Windows Imaging Format (.wim).
After mastering SmartDeploy, you’ll gain exposure to PDQ Connect, PDQ Deploy, and PDQ Inventory, expanding into broader Windows device management. PDQ encourages cross-product growth, autonomy, and technical curiosity.
