Why This Role Exists Every great build starts long before the first cut of wood — it starts with precision. We’re hiring a Millwork Estimator who thrives on accuracy, structure, and ownership. You’ll be the person who turns architectural drawings into crystal-clear, profit-protecting estimates. When details are missing or specs don’t align, you don’t wait — you ask questions, clarify assumptions, and keep projects moving with confidence. This isn’t just about numbers; it’s about building trust, avoiding rework, and ensuring every bid reflects real craftsmanship and value. What You’ll Do Own the Takeoffs: Read and interpret architectural and interior design drawings, finish schedules, and specifications. Measure with Precision: Perform detailed takeoffs (LF, SF, EA) for architectural millwork, casework, cabinetry, and upholstered elements. Build Solid Estimates: Account for materials, hardware, finishes, labor, and subcontractor allowances — ensuring every cost is justified and traceable. Document Everything: Draft detailed assumptions, inclusions/exclusions, RFIs, and value-engineering options. Deliver Client-Ready Proposals: Prepare professional, accurate bids and ensure smooth handoffs to production and PM teams — complete with scope notes and budget breakdowns. Collaborate & Clarify: Work closely with design and production to close information gaps before they turn into costly mistakes. Stay Sharp Under Pressure: Produce accurate, well-documented estimates — even when deadlines are tight. Communicate Confidently: Keep leadership and clients informed with clear, timely updates. Own Your Pipeline: Manage a small portfolio of bids independently and maintain strong attention to detail. What You Bring 3+ years of experience estimating architectural millwork, cabinetry, casework, woodwork, or custom upholstery projects. Strong drawing literacy — fluent in reading and interpreting details, sections, schedules, and specs. Proven experience performing accurate takeoffs for custom, one-of-a-kind items. Proficiency with Bluebeam and either PlanSwift or On-Screen Takeoff (OST). Strong spreadsheet and documentation skills — consistent, organized, and meticulous. Bonus Experience Familiarity with AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, or Microvellum. Understanding of AWI / QCP standards. Experience with submittals, shop drawings, change orders, or joinery/finishing processes. Knowledge of BMS (Building Management Systems) — confirm context relevance in application. Why It Matters When your estimates are accurate, projects stay profitable, schedules stay on track, and teams stay confident. You’re not just supporting operations — you’re shaping the foundation for every successful build. If you take pride in accuracy, love solving problems before they become costly, and thrive in the details, we’d love to have you on board.
