Frontend Engineering Team Lead

About the Role

We’re looking for a Frontend Engineering Team Lead — not a hands-off manager, but a team lead who’s ready to take ownership, set the direction, and help others level up. You’ll be building alongside the team, coaching junior and mid level engineers, and making sure the frontend runs smoothly and cleanly. This is the role for someone who thrives in the chaos of a startup, wants ownership over the frontend stack, and is excited to turn a scrappy v1 into a platform ready to scale.

Key Responsibilities Own the frontend architecture, code quality, and release standards. Build core features and improvements in React, Next.js, and TypeScript. Coach and mentor junior engineers, helping them write clean, reliable code. Set coding guidelines, testing standards, and ensure best practices stick. Work closely with product and backend teams to prioritize and deliver features. Spot bottlenecks and lead fixes that improve performance and user experience. Be the go-to person for all things frontend as we scale.

Requirements Senior-level frontend experience (6+ years) with previous experience leading a team. You’ll have the ability to guide, coach, and keep the team accountable. Strong skills in React, Next.js, TypeScript, HTML, CSS. Experience with Tailwind/Shadcn for responsive design. Deep understanding of APIs (REST, GraphQL). Comfort with Git, CI/CD, and testing frameworks. Understanding of accessibility (WCAG) and SEO fundamentals for web apps. Strong understanding of modern build tools and performance optimization (Vite, Webpack, Lighthouse). Experience designing frontend architectures and working with state management tools (e.g., Redux, Zustand, or Recoil). Excellent communication and collaboration skills, comfortable working cross-functionally with design and backend teams. A builder’s mindset — you care about moving fast, but you don’t cut corners on quality.

Bonus Points Experience with analytics and monitoring tools (Sentry, Datadog, or Vercel Analytics). Exposure to AWS (S3, CloudFront, Lambda). Experience working in a marketplace, industrial/long-tail B2B environment, or sectors like construction, agriculture, or automotive. Prior role in an early-stage startup with budget responsibility and autonomy.
