Facilities Maintenance Technician - Oil Burner Technician, North Warning System Location: Various Northern Sites across the Arctic Type: Unionized, Rotational Position (4 weeks on, 4 weeks off)
Nasittuq Corporation operates and maintains the North Warning System (NWS), a critical joint Canada-US radar network with 47 sites across Northern Canada. What You’ll Do:
- Assist in maintaining NWS systems, focusing on heating/boiler/incinerator systems and other Facilities systems.
- Perform annual preventive maintenance on heating systems at Long Range Radar (LRR) sites.
- Analyze equipment failures, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Support design changes to enhance equipment efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Provide feedback to Sustainment Services on maintenance tasks, minor modifications, and additional projects.
- Maintain performance and maintenance records on equipment.
- Document and update facilities files related to the work management system, work plans, field/incident reports, and data analysis.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as unexpected failures.
- Assist in installing and maintaining heating and water/sewage systems.
- Conduct environmental, safety, and quality audits, ensuring a healthy and safe workplace.
Who You Are:
Credentials:
- Valid Trade Certificate, Oil Burner Technician (OBT2 or OBT1).
- Inter-Provincial Red Seal Journeyperson Certificate of Qualification.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years in a commercial or industrial setting.
- Experience developing and conducting technical training is an asset.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of heating systems and structural components, with the ability to interpret drawings and manuals.
- Proficiency with tools and test equipment for troubleshooting Facilities systems.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Maximo.
- Standard First Aid with CPR Level A certification (valid).
- Valid Class 'G' driver’s license or equivalent.
Additional Requirements:
- Must already hold or be eligible for a Level II (Secret) Clearance, approved by the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate.
- Comfortable working in colder climates and a 4-week on/4-week off rotation schedule.
