    Job Description

    This is a remote position.

    Schedule:

    20 hours per week Monday to Friday, 10am-2pm, Avondale Heights VIC

    Client Overview:

    An established Melbourne-based cleaning business seeking to enhance its financial operations with proactive and reliable account management. This role replaces the current bookkeeper while expanding responsibilities to include client communication and collections — ideal for someone who enjoys both accounting work and engaging with customers in a growing service business.

    Job Description:

    You’ll take ownership of the end-to-end financial operations for a successful Australian cleaning business, combining traditional bookkeeping with customer-facing responsibilities. This role goes beyond typical accounting tasks — you’ll manage collections, resolve billing disputes, and maintain positive client relationships while ensuring accurate financial management. You’ll work directly with the business owners who value professionalism, accuracy, and clear communication.

    Responsibilities:

    Perform complete bookkeeping and accounting functions using Xero Manage accounts receivable, including proactive follow-ups and collection calls to Australian clients Communicate with customers regarding payment questions, billing issues, and disputes Maintain accurate financial records, reconciliations, and reports Resolve payment disputes professionally while preserving strong client relationships Track outstanding invoices and manage cash flow reporting Coordinate closely with business owners to provide financial insights and updates

    Requirements:

    Proven bookkeeping and accounting experience using Xero Experience working with Australian clients and familiarity with Australian business and accounting practices Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal Comfortable making professional collection calls and handling sensitive financial conversations Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing multiple accounts and payment schedules Professional phone manner and customer service orientation Ability to work independently while maintaining high accuracy and reliability Independent Contractor Perks Permanent work from home Immediate hiring
