The Video Playback organization’s mission is to provide global, self-service, multi-tenant, turn key solutions for all WBD Streaming brands both at Server and Client side across Live linear, Live event & VOD stream types and wide array of device platforms serving all customers with seamless & smooth playback experience.

Our mission is to foster unified QoE analytics and drive datadriven use cases by leveraging a robust multitenant platform and semantic layer. Roles & Responsibilities:

  • As an Sr. Software Engineer here you are passionate about using software-based approaches to solve complex data-driven challenges and automate those solutions.
  • Within our organization, you’ll lead efforts aimed at scaling our existing data offerings and establish the technical strategy for how we can better equip engineers and leaders with Data Platform.
  • You’ll build a deep understanding of our digital streaming service and use that knowledge, coupled with your engineering, infrastructure, data, and cloud knowledge, to optimize and evolve how we understand our technical ecosystem.
  • To be successful, you’ll need to be deeply technical and capable of holding your own with other strong peers.
  • You possess excellent collaboration and diplomacy skills.
  • You have experience practicing infrastructure-as-code, data streaming pipeline, data lake management, Database, Analytics and Dashboarding.
  • In addition, you’ll have strong systems knowledge and troubleshooting abilities.

What to Bring:

  • 5 - 8 years, Proficient in Java 8, including use of Futures and Streams. OTT domain experience is a plus.
  • You are proficient in Reactive programming, asynchronous, non-blocking backend engineering languages like Java, Go, Node JS, etc. Also familiar with writing highly scalable engineering backend services and messaging services like Kafka, SQS and others.
  • Experience with one or more of: Kafka, MongoDB, Snowflake, PostgreSQL and MySQL, Caching solutions (such as Redis and Guava), Search engine technology (preferably Elasticsearch) and/or Grafana and Prometheous
  • Experience working with data storage and distributed processing technologies (i.e. Hive, Spark, Trino, Flink or other SQL databases, etc …)
  • Ability to solve problems related to storing, transforming, and querying tabular data.
  • Experience with data modeling, database design and various SQL dialects.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration solutions (e.g. Apache Airflow, Prefect, Kubeflow, etc..)
  • Knowledge of, and professional experience with most AWS services, and knowledge of EC2, S3, Kinesis, CloudFront and CloudWatch
  • Usage and deep understanding of Docker and Kubernetes
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to build empathetic tools and platforms.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Research new service integrations both internal to AWS and external.
  • Move quickly and intelligently - seeing technical debt as your nemesis.
  • Ability to solve problems independently but knows when to request assistance.
  • Strong action orientation
