Job Description

Following separation from a FTSE 250 PLC, the Fastmarkets finance team are establishing a new standalone tax function and this role is critical in being part of a team that delivers the functionality with associated processes and establishes them as business as usual.

The role will require a highly dynamic individual, who can implement, document, execute indirect tax covering EMEA, APAC and the USA.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Review of Avalara set up and logic to determine tax and identify/implement changes required for full global compliance.
  • Review of Avalara product codes set up and implement any required changes.
  • Review of all invoice templates and identify/implement changes required for full compliance.
  • Set up VAT controls with Internal Controls Manager, including all indirect tax related balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Create playbooks for resolution of common issues, review of all registrations and drive any new registrations/de-registrations required
  • Complete the implementation of the PwC indirect tax system, EDGE, designing processes to load data into EDGE.
  • Establish processes to monitor requirements for new indirect tax registrations across the business.
  • Document core processes
  • Maintain a strong risk and control framework around tax processes.
  • Support Head of Group Reporting and Tax and Group Tax Manager on ad hoc projects

Experience

  • Strong experience in global indirect tax compliance
  • Experience implementing tax processes and systems
  • Experience in a fast paced environment
  • Experience of influencing senior colleagues and demonstratable desire to do the right thing even when under challenge

Skills and knowledge

  • Can challenge current practices and think innovatively in executing work.
  • Able to take the lead in designing and implementing processes.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong communication skills with a collaborative stakeholder management approach
  • Able to solve problems with creative and pragmatic ideas and uses sound judgements based on risk assessment.
  • Attention to detail, ability to rapidly understand end to end business operation and inherent risks
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word and Accounting Systems.
