Project Summary:


The purpose of Afghanistan Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Activity (AMELA) is to provide monitoring, evaluation, and learning support services/assistance to strengthen the implementation of USAID development programs in Afghanistan, and to build the technical monitoring and evaluation (M&E) knowledge and skills of USAID/Afghanistan Mission staff and stakeholders. The services provided under AMELA will contribute to supporting USAID/Afghanistan as an effective development organization with strong learning and adaptive management processes.

Position Summary:


The Data Analysis and Visualization Specialist will be responsible for the consolidation and analysis of site visit data such as flags, interview responses, and observation findings while working closely with the AMELA Third-Party Monitoring (TPM) team. This role will involve creating and maintaining various data visualizations, charts, graphs, and dashboards, as well as developing trackers to efficiently monitor and present data trends and outcomes. The Specialist will work closely with multiple team members to ensure the accurate and effective presentation of TPM findings to support decision-making. The Specialist will report directly to the Senior Monitoring Lead and Deputy Monitoring Lead. The estimated level of effort for this position is 200 days (up to 2.5 days a week) until March 7, 2025, with possibility of extension beyond this date.


 


Responsibilities:



  • Analyze TPM data to identify and communicate key patterns and insights.

  • Create visual outputs such as charts, graphs, and interactive dashboards to clearly present analysis findings.

  • Develop and maintain data trackers and management systems to enhance data quality and accuracy.

  • Update visualizations and dashboards regularly to reflect current data and trends.

  • Prepare and present detailed reports and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Provide training and support to team members on data visualization tools and techniques.

  • Assist with the production of periodic reports and work plans as needed.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support data management and analysis initiatives.



 


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, or a related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.

  • Minimum three years of experience in data analysis, data visualization, or a similar role is required.

  • Experience in creating and managing dashboards, large datasets, and reporting tools.

  • Familiarity with international development or humanitarian assistance contexts referred.

  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar software.

  • Ability to work remotely with teams across different global time zones under tight deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to non-technical audiences.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to college, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong written and oral English language skills are required.
