About the position

We are on the hunt for a Cloud Data Engineer to help us generate new insights and unlock business value using data.

You will be joining a global community filled with exceptional, driven, and talented individuals. While our main office is located in the picturesque Nelson, we embrace a hybrid work model with team members working remotely across New Zealand.

Working with our Product and Engineering teams, you'll add value by enabling our workforce to solve real business problems using our modern data stack, whilst helping unlock net new insights. As a Cloud Data Engineer, you are responsible for maintaining and growing our internal data pipeline and reporting suite whilst providing specialist knowledge and support for business intelligence projects.

The role

What you’ll do:

  • Develop, maintain, and test an end-to-end data pipeline aligned with our analytics needs, focusing on simplicity and ease of use.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as production and sales, to help solve their data-related issues.
  • Assist with experimental data projects and provide ad-hoc technical expertise to others in the business
Skills and experience required

  • At least two years of experience designing data pipelines or business intelligence systems.
  • Excellent skills in relational database (RDBMS) administration.
  • A solid understanding of data modeling and data warehousing principles.
  • Experience with integrated semantic models
  • Experience with PowerBI 
  • Knowledge of modern ETL techniques and tools.
  • Experience maintaining cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Experience with batch data processing
  • Proven ability liaising with business users.
  • Experience extracting data from third-party platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot.
Additionally, experience in (or willingness to learn about):

  • Experience transforming data with SQL-based tools such as dbt.
  • Experience with AWS administration.
  • Experience with Snowflake.
  • Ability to work with Python, using a git-based pull request workflow.
  • An interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how data can be utilized to leverage this technology.
