The Team
The Youth Transition Practice Team is a group of 6 youth transition and youth justice subject matter experts. Working with staff across MCFD, this team provides practice consultation and training to service delivery staff and leadership to ensure the best care for youth transitioning out of care. This group collaborates closely with Indigenous groups, youth justice, health authorities, and community-based organizations across British Columbia to work on a better future for young people and shift outcomes for youth who have been involved with MCFD.

The Role
The Director of Practice for Youth Transitions, SAJE & Youth Justice leads a team of subject matter experts in their support of service delivery best practices. This role provides clinical consultation, policy interpretation, support and mentoring to practitioners, Team Leaders and Director of Operations. You will also provide administrative and budget management to ensure that service and resource requirements are met. Working alongside other Directors of Practice across MCFD, you will participate in the development of provincial and regional programs, services, and practice improvement and innovation. 

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • BSW, BA in Child and Youth Care in social sciences or related degree; or
  • MSW, MA in Counselling Psychology completed a practicum in family and child welfare
    • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • Five (5) or more years of child safety experience;
  • One (1) or more years of clinical experience working in Youth Transition, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based services;
  • Experience in program and policy development;
  • Two (2) or more years of experience providing training and group facilitation;
  • One (1) or more years of experience establishing relationships in the community;
  • One (1) or more years of experience with development of issue papers, Information/Briefing Notes.
  • One (1) or more years of experience independently managing projects;
  • Recent supervisory experience within a unionized environment (within four years)
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province - If you are the successful applicant you must acquire a valid B.C. driver's Class 5 driver's licence immediately).


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience developing and monitoring budgets, contract administration;
